Michael is Chief Data Engineer, EMEA, for MapR, where he helps people tap the potential of Big Data by bridging the technical (architecture, scalability, etc.) and the business side (RoI, TCO, etc.). His background is in large-scale data integration, the Internet of Things, and Web applications and he's experienced in advocacy and standardization (World Wide Web Consortium). Michael's sharing his experience with the Lambda Architecture, distributed systems and polyglot persistence through blog posts and public speaking engagements and is a contributor to Apache Drill.
Leon Clayton is a results-oriented Hadoop architect skilled in big data strategy, solution design, POC setups, implementations, and technical problem solving. As a Solution Architect for MapR, Leon is responsible for designing and implementing MapR-based solutions to address business problems in various industry verticals. Prior to that role, Leon was a Systems Engineer for EMC, where he configured software, hardware and services solutions for EMC customers. Leon also spent eight years at NetApp in a variety of positions, including Escalation Consultant, Field Escalation Engineer, Storage Consultant, member of the UK Field Performance Team, and Consulting System Engineer. Earlier in his career, Leon was a Network Manager for Philips Semiconductors.
Leon holds an HND in Engineering and Computers from the Royal Navy, as well as an Engineer’s Degree in Real Time Combat Systems.
