You have your devices and your data, but what about the rest of your Internet-of-things story? Two popular classes of technologies that nicely handle the big data analytics for Internet-of-things are Apache Hadoop and NoSQL. Hadoop is designed for parallelizing analytical work across many servers and is ideal for the massive data volumes you create with IoT devices. NoSQL databases such as Apache HBase are ideal for storing and retrieving IoT data as “time series data.” In this presentation, I’ll talk about how IoT data is managed via Hadoop and NoSQL, and how they help to deliver valuable business insights
Dale is the Sr. Director of Industry Solutions at MapR. His background includes a variety of technical and management roles at information technology companies. While his experience includes work with relational databases, much of his career pertains to non-relational data in the areas of search, content management, and NoSQL, and includes senior roles in technical marketing, sales engineering, and support engineering. Dale holds an MBA from Santa Clara University, and a BA in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
