O’Reilly OSCON Open Source Convention 2013
When: Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 1:30 pm PT
Where: Oregon Convention Center, Portland, OR
What: MapR’s Chief Application Architect Ted Dunning and Apache Drill Developer Jacques Nadeau will lead the session titled: “Introduction to Drill.” The presentation will give users an overview of Apache Drill and its key extension APIs. Then they will work through design and development using Java and scripting to add extensions to the Apache Drill platform.

What: MapR’s Chief Marketing Officer Jack Norris will participate as a guest panelist at a session titled: “The BIG Debate: Clash of the Elephants.” With the number of Apache Hadoop distributions growing and highly technical differentiation within different distributions, this session brings together Hadoop distribution vendors in a moderated panel discussion to explain the pros/cons of their architecture, approach and vision. They will discuss the main Apache Hadoop distributions, differences between them and look at the Apache Hadoop ecosystem evolving in 2013 and 2014.
