MapR Adds Technology Industry Veteran to Executive Team to Drive Global Sales Organization

MapR Technologies, Inc., the provider of the open, enterprise-grade distribution for Apache Hadoop, announced today the appointment of Steve Fitz as vice president, worldwide field operations. In this role Steve will lead MapR?s global go-to-market team and oversee field engagement activities. He will report directly to CEO and Cofounder John Schroeder.

?Steve's extensive experience in global sales execution and strategic account coverage made him a natural fit for this position,? said John Schroeder. ?His understanding of selling large-scale IT solutions through direct and channel organizations will help MapR continue to scale and enable more customers to leverage our distribution for Apache Hadoop.?

Prior to joining MapR, Steve was president and general manager of operations at Avaya U.S., where he was responsible for revenue and P&L in excess of $2.5 billion. Steve has also held executive positions in general management and sales at Isilon Systems where he led and scaled go-to-market organizations. At EMC Corporation, Steve rose from a major account manager to senior vice president of customer operations, where he lead the Asia Pacific business for over four years of exponential growth.
