We are pleased to announce the availability of the Apache Drill Essentials course as part of MapR Hadoop On-Demand Training. The Drill course introduces SQL developers and business analysts to self-service SQL exploration on structured and semi-structured datasets on Hadoop.
Drill is an Apache Top-Level Project that brings interactive SQL queries to big data, with zero learning curve for the SQL user. Drill works with existing BI and SQL tools so you can query newer, more complex datasets such as JSON and HBase tables instantly through on-the-fly schema discovery, eliminating the need to go through complex ETL cycles and schema maintenance.
This introductory Drill course covers how to use Drill to explore known or unknown data without writing code. You will write SQL queries on a variety of data types, including structured data in a Hive table, semi-structured data in HBase or MapR-DB, and complex data file types such as Parquet and JSON. As Drill gets closer to 1.0, more Drill courses will become available that will delve into architectural highlights, advanced query options and performance tuning with Drill.
Earlier this year, MapR launched free Hadoop On-Demand Training for developers, analysts and administrators. We have had enormous response to the free training courses, as the format addresses users’ convenience, availability and flexibility needs. There are a range of other courses already available, including Hadoop Essentials, Hadoop Operations and several HBase courses, and most of these courses lead to Hadoop Certification.
For SQL specialists, Apache Drill is redefining how SQL works with big data, and our new Apache Drill Essentials course is a great place for you to get started and certified on Drill.
