The session titled: “Big Data Drivers: Why Hadoop will be Part of Telecom’s Analytics,” will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2013 at 2:15 p.m. ET. Mr. Botzum will explore why Big Data techniques are touching every industry and will discuss use cases relevant to the telecommunications industry. Mobile call records, sensor data, social media, clickstreams are all data sources that present rich opportunities for improving revenue and optimizing costs. Mr. Botzum has over 15 years of experience in large scale distributed system design and has worked with a variety of distributed technologies, including Sun RPC, DCE, CORBA, Java EE, AFS, and DFS. Recently, he has been focusing on Hadoop and related technologies.
Tim Eckard, a director at Zaloni, a Big Data services company that works closely with companies to create IT efficiencies, will assist in presenting two telecommunications use cases.
