John Schroeder
CEO and Co-Founder

John founded MapR based upon seeing the value Apache Hadoop provides as a big data analytics platform. He identified a strategy to produce the next generation Hadoop distribution to meet the requirements of advanced Hadoop users as well as those new to Hadoop. John also set out to address core limitations that were limiting the adoption of Hadoop and expand Hadoop capabilities to serve new business critical and realtime applications.

John has led companies creating innovative and disruptive business intelligence, database management, storage and virtualization technologies at early stage ventures through success as large public companies. John was previously CEO of Calista Technologies (Microsoft), CEO of Rainfinity (EMC) and Senior Vice President of products and marketing at Brio Technologies (BRYO). John has also held general management and executive positions at Compuware, Candle and SAIC. John has a BS in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University.

M.C. Srivas
CTO and Co-Founder

Srivas ran one of the major search infrastructure teams at Google where GFS, BigTable and MapReduce were used extensively. He wanted to provide that powerful capability to everyone, and started MapR on his vision to build the next-generation platform for semi-structured big data. His strategy was to evolve Hadoop and bring simplicity of use, extreme speed and complete reliability to Hadoop users everywhere, and make it seamlessly easy for enterprises to use this powerful new way to get deep insights. That vision is shared by all at MapR. Srivas brings to MapR his experiences at Google, Spinnaker Networks, Transarc in building game-changing products that advance the state of the art.

Srivas was Chief Architect at Spinnaker Networks (now NTAP) which built the industry's fastest single-box NAS filer, as well as the industry's most scalable clustered filer. Previously, he managed the Andrew File System (AFS) engineering team at Transarc (now IBM). AFS is now standard classroom material in operating systems courses. While not writing code, Srivas enjoys playing tennis, badminton and volleyball. M.C. has an M.S. in Computer Science from University of Delaware, and a B.Tech. in electrical engineering from IIT Delhi.

Jack Norris
Chief Marketing Officer

Jack has over 20 years of enterprise software marketing experience. He has demonstrated success from defining new markets for small companies to increasing sales of new products for large public companies. Jack’s broad experience includes launching and establishing analytic, virtualization, and storage companies and leading marketing and business development for an early-stage cloud storage software provider. Jack has also held senior executive roles with EMC, Rainfinity, Brio Technology, SQRIBE, and Bain and Company. Jack earned an MBA from UCLA Anderson and a BA in economics with honors and distinction from Stanford University.

Ted Dunning
Chief Application Architect

Ted has held Chief Scientist positions at Veoh Networks, ID Analytics and at MusicMatch, (now Yahoo Music). Ted is responsible for building the most advanced identity theft detection system on the planet, as well as one of the largest peer-assisted video distribution systems and ground-breaking music and video recommendations systems. Ted has 15 issued and 15 pending patents and contributes to several Apache open source projects including Hadoop, Zookeeper and Hbase™. He is also a committer for Apache Mahout. Ted earned a BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado; a MS degree in computer science from New Mexico State University; and a Ph.D. in computing science from Sheffield University in the United Kingdom. Ted also bought the drinks at one of the very first Hadoop User Group meetings.

Dave Jespersen
Chief Customer Advocate

Dave has a proven track record of transforming business vision into tangible results. Bringing his deep engineering experience to his role of chief customer advocate Dave will enrich the customer experience by working with MapR’s rapidly growing customer base to develop and implement innovative solutions to the complex problems faced by every enterprise. He was previously VP of Engineering at MapR where he lead the development of MapR’s industry leading products. Dave has 30 years of successful enterprise software development experience in both small and large companies including EMC, Sun Microsystems, Sterling Software, Spectralogic, Exabyte and DEC. Dave was educated at Brigham Young University where he earned a BS M.E. and a minor in Computer Science.

Steve Fitz
Senior Vice President, Worldwide Field Operations

Steve is responsible for MapR's worldwide sales operations. Prior to joining MapR, Steve was President & GM of Avaya U.S. Operations leading the go to market transformation in Avaya’s private equity turnaround. Previous to that Steve held executive positions in general management and sales at Isilon Systems and EMC Corporation, leading and scaling the go to market organizations globally for both later stage startup and growth companies. Currently residing in Silicon Valley, Steve has led both worldwide and international teams and will focus on expanding MapR’s global go to market team and partners to leverage the adoption of Apache Hadoop.

Steve has a BA in Marketing from the Isenberg School of Management from the University of Massachusetts.

Pinaki Mukerji
Senior Vice President of Engineering

Pinaki brings proven engineering expertise and innovation along with years of experience building and managing large engineering teams who have developed world-leading technology. Joining MapR from Informatica Pinaki served as senior vice president of engineering where he was instrumental in building Informatica into the industry leading data integration company with PowerCenter becoming the dominant and market-leading product used by over 2,400 companies. Pinaki rose through the ranks at Informatica from software engineer to most recently, senior vice president where he built and managed a large R&D team of 250 that spanned four geographies with annual revenues of $300M. Pinaki began his career at Intel and later was a senior member of the technical staff at Transarc before joining Informatica as principal software engineer.

Tomer Shiran
Vice President of Product Management

Tomer Shiran heads the product management team at MapR and is responsible for product strategy, roadmap and requirements. Prior to MapR, Tomer held numerous product management and engineering roles at Microsoft, most recently as the product manager for Microsoft Internet Security & Acceleration Server (now Microsoft Forefront). He is the founder of two websites that have served tens of millions of users, and received coverage in prestigious publications such as The New York Times, USA Today and The Times of London. Tomer is also the author of a 900-page programming book. He holds an MS in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a BS in Computer Science from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.

Kim Williams
Vice President, Worldwide Services and Support

Kim is responsible for MapR's professional services, customer training and support teams. Prior to MapR, Kim was VP, WW Technical Services at Blue Coat Systems where she led the systems engineering, professional services, technical enablement and customer training organizations. Previous to Blue Coat, Kim held senior management roles at BEA, Synopsys, and Compuware.

Kim has a BS in Business Management from the University of South Dakota, as well as an MBA from Kansas University.


Rob Anderson
Vice President, Worldwide Systems Engineering

Rob Anderson joins MapR as Vice President of Worldwide Systems Engineering, where he is in charge of managing MapR's worldwide systems engineering team. Prior to joining MapR, Rob served has Chief Technology Officer EMEA for the Isilon Storage Division of EMC Corporation, a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver information technology as a service (ITaaS). While at EMC, Rob led engineering teams in the development of Isilon’s industry-leading OneFS clustered file system, during which he jointly authored several patents. Earlier in his career, Rob held senior technical roles with Amazon and Equator Technologies.

Rob holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Washington and a B.Eng. in Computer Engineering from McGill University.

John Bertero
Vice President, Americas

John brings 30 years of experience in executive management and IT sales to MapR. As Vice President of Americas, he is in charge of building MapR's Americas sales team. Prior to joining MapR, John was Vice President of Avaya, a provider of enterprise communication systems. He has also held executive positions as Senior VP and General Manager of SAP, Vice President of EqualLogic (acquired by Dell), and Area Vice President of EMC. Earlier in his career, John held various management positions at Dun and Bradstreet Software, Banyan Systems and The ForeFront Group.

Bill Bonin
Vice President, Business Development

Bill leads the business development function at MapR. He is responsible for partnerships and alliances with technology and service providers that help customers realize the maximum possible value from MapR products. Bill previously held executive positions with VMware, EMC, and Rainfinity (EMC). At VMware and EMC, he championed the development of software-defined data management and managed alliances with strategically important data management and analytics partners. Prior to EMC, Bill led business development at Rainfinity.

Bill holds a BA from UC Berkeley, an MBA from UCLA, and a JD from the University of San Francisco.

Xavier Guerin
Vice President, Southern Europe and Benelux

Xavier Guerin joins MapR Technologies as VP of Southern Europe and Benelux. Xavier has 23 years of experience in EMEA and corporate business development for both small and large companies. Prior to joining MapR, Xavier was VP Sales, EMEA for Quantum, a global provider of data protection and big data management solutions. Prior to that role, Xavier was Senior Director, Southern Europe and Middle East, for Isilon Systems, where he was responsible for the implementation and business development of Isilon solutions in Southern Europe and the Middle East.

Xavier has an MBA, Entrepreneurship from the HEC School of Management, and a BA in Entrepreneurship from the Institut Supérieur du Commerce in Paris, France.

Steve Jenkins
Vice President, EMEA

Steve Jenkins has over 30 years of experience in EMEA operations. As Vice President EMEA for MapR, Steve is responsible for developing and driving MapR’s EMEA initiatives, while building and maintaining relationships with key decision makers in the region. Steve has built a strong reputation for creating new EMEA organizations and enhancing existing ones. Prior to joining MapR, Steve was VP EMEA for Q1 Labs, a provider of security information and event management (SIEM) and log management products. Prior to that role, he was VP EMEA for Isilon Systems, a leader in clustered storage systems and software for file-based data. Steve essentially started the EMEA organization within Isilon, and established offices in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Paris. Earlier in his career, Steve spearheaded EMEA operations for F5 Networks and led enterprise sales for Bay Networks and Nortel Networks.

Jay Leonard
Vice President Sales, East Region

Jay has been leading sales teams and driving growth strategies for technology companies for over 20 years. At MapR, Jay leads the East Region sales team in business strategy and execution. Prior to joining MapR, he was a Regional Vice President with Silver Spring Networks, a leader in standards-based Smart Grid networking products. In that role, he was responsible for the day-to-day management of the sales team as well as the management of key client relationships. Prior to joining Silver Spring Networks, Jay spent 14 years at EMC where he was most recently an Area Manager in New York focused on driving quarterly revenue growth in the region.

Jay has a BA in Political Science from Middlebury College in Vermont.

Michele Nemschoff
Vice President, Corporate Marketing

Michele joins MapR from PARC, a Xerox company, where she led the marketing team. Prior to that, Michele was a partner with Indigo Partners, developing and executing successful marketing strategies to drive growth for a variety of technology companies. Clients included BabyCenter, Hewlett-Packard, Intraware, Inxight Software, Kensington Technologies, and Plantronics.

Michele has also held marketing positions at Linuxcare, Apple, NeXT, Rand McNally, and Strategic Mapping. She spent a year with a UN- and EC-sponsored consulting group in Poland providing marketing advice and expertise to newly emerging private companies. Michele received an MBA from Stanford University and a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School.

Suresh Ollala
Vice President, Engineering Operations and QA

Suresh is responsible for MapR's release engineering and quality assurance operations. Prior to joining MapR, Suresh held numerous engineering positions at Informatica, most recently as Vice President R&D, where he led the quality engineering, build and release for unified Informatica data integration platform. Suresh is an expert in overseeing all aspects of R&D operations; while at Informatica, Suresh built and led a global R&D team of over 150 QA and R&D specialists located throughout the US, UK, and India. He also established a new offshore development center In India, where he led all aspects of the initiative, from staffing to IT infrastructure design. Suresh was educated at Nagpur University in Nagpur, India, where he earned a BS in Engineering.

Kathy Do
Controller

Kathy leads MapR’s accounting and finance team and is responsible for the financial management of the company. Prior to MapR, Kathy held the corporate controller position at Ravix Group, Xactly Corporation, Rainfinity, and SQRIBE. She has led companies by developing solid infrastructure in accounting and operations at start-up stage through successful growing companies. Her broad experience includes accounting system setup and implementation, foreign subsidiary expansion, financial planning, and cash management. Kathy has a B.S in Business Administration from San Francisco State University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
